New flooring in the hallway leading to the bathrooms and the nursery!
Wednesday Wireless - Immanuel's Weekly News Update
Parish House Renovation Update
We are close! The floor is almost completely installed. After that, there are a few minor tasks that stand between us and a newly renovated building. We hope that the building will be fully functional by the end of July. The nursery and bathrooms are in working order. Stay tuned for more on an exact completion date.
Parish House Renovation Celebration
Join us after church on Sunday, August 12 to celebrate the completion of the Parish House Renovation. We will have BBQ for lunch and a festive celebration of all the work that has gone into the renovation project.
As we reach the middle of the summer, it is greatly appreciated if you can continue with your pledge installments on whatever schedule you established at the beginning of the calendar year. The Vestry and the Stewardship Committee are extremely grateful for your generosity this year. Not only have we paid our bills on time but we have also been able to do some much needed upgrades to our facilities. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
There is still time to contribute to the Appreciation Fund which will be given to Britton Trimble. We will celebrate Britton's work this Sunday but we will continue receiving contributions until Tuesday, July 31.
Old Photos of the Church
If you have old photographs of the church (especially interior photos) the 1853 Building Committee would love to see them. If you know of others who might have pictures too, we would appreciate you reaching out to see if we could have copies. Please mail or hand deliver any photos you can find to the Rev. Chris Miller.
Pastoral Visits with the Rector
One of the most important aspects of my job as rector is making pastoral visits and sharing meals with you all. Please continue to inform me of any pastoral needs that may arise. The best way to be in touch about pastoral needs is by calling or texting my cell phone number at (703) 203-2329.
Meals with the Rector
If you'd like to have lunch or dinner with me, I would love nothing more than to make that happen. Either for a particular topic of conversation or to get to know each other better, our Christian faith values shared meals above almost all else. Please email me at email@example.com if you'd like to share a meal together in the coming months.
Education for Ministry
EfM is a distance learning experience from the School of Theology at the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee; "a program of theological education based on small group study and practice." Over 80,000 participants from all over the world have discovered and nurtured their call to Christian service through this program.
In today's complicated world, learning about the ways to see your life through a spiritual lens can't provide you with all the answers, but it can give you a safe place to ask the hard questions, to learn how we got to where we are in today's church through the study of the Old and New Testaments, the history of the church, and by being introduced to theological reflection and readings.
We will have room in our group for several new members starting in the fall. Registration materials will be available in early July and our sessions will begin in mid-September. Ask any current EfM participant or graduate about their experience! Or check it out at Sewanee.edu/EfM!
The Scoop: Tuition will be $375 per student, meetings are held once a week, with several brief breaks around major church holidays, all books and materials are provided, expect about 2 hours of reading to prepare for each session, members provide light refreshments to share for the group several times each session. Contact Lindsay Ryland (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Dabney Morriss (email@example.com) if you have questions.
Prayer List Updates
Please email the Rev. Chris Miller (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Britton Trimble (email@example.com) if you have anyone you would like added to our prayer list. Additionally, please review the prayer list this coming Sunday to see if there is anyone that you would like removed from the prayer list as circumstances change.
We have a nursery available every Sunday during our 10 AM service. The nursery is located inside the Parish House building, next to the church.
During the summer months, please feel free to show up to church early on Sunday morning, find a robe, and hop in the procession with the choir. We welcome all levels of singing ability to join the Immanuel Choir.
CornerStone Food Bank
