Wednesday Wireless - Immanuel's Weekly News Update

Parish Work Day

Join us on Saturday, April 21 at 9:00 AM for a parish work day to do some spring cleaning on the church grounds.

Choir Visioning Meeting

On Sunday, April 22 all singers, whether current members of the choir or not, are welcome to attend a visioning meeting with Ellen Johnston, Director of the Center for Liturgy and Music at Virginia Theological Seminary. The meeting will take place at 12:00 PM in the church.

Old Church Garden Fair

Mark your calendars for the Old Church Garden Fair on Saturday, May 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Immanuel. Shop for deals on garden plants and homemade baked goods while you enjoy live music, homemade pork barbeque, historic church tours and kids' activities. "God only knows what you'll find!"

Parishioners can help by baking your favorite cakes, cookies, pies, breads, etc., for the bake sale and by potting up extra plants from your gardens for the plant sale. We also need donations of used teacups and saucers for make and take flower arrangements at the garden fair. Please drop them off in the Altar Guild room anytime before May 5. We would also like donations of cut flowers from parishioners' yards. Please bring those on Friday May 4 or on Saturday morning. Contact Marion Jones if you have questions about the flower arrangements or would like to help.

If you would like to volunteer to help at the event, contact Kay Jewell (plants), Nell Fukushima (baked goods), or Paula Neely (helping with the kids' bounce house, food, kids' stuff, tours, etc.). We need one more popup tent for the event. Contact Paula Neely if you can help with this.

Spring Adult Formation Class: Pentecost & Beyond: Living as Disciples in a 21st Century World

For eight weeks following Easter, we will explore various New Testament passages which can lend insights for living as Christians in the present day.  We will begin in Acts and end in Revelation, hearing what Paul, the writer of Hebrews, and John have to say about following in the footsteps of Jesus. No preparation is required; each class will be a stand-alone lesson, so join us when you can!  For more info about the class, contact Joan Beal.

Thursday Bible Study

Thursday Bible Study will meet on Thursday, April 26 at 7:45 PM at the Parish House. Please reach out to David Jennings or the Rev. Chris Miller with questions. The Bible Study meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month.

Bethlehem Presbyterian Church

Our neighbors at Bethlehem have invited us to join them for their spaghetti dinner on Friday April 27 at 5:00 PM. The dinner features Pattie Bland of Hanover/Caroline Soil and Water Conservation District who will discuss the impact of Public and private sector practices on our local watersheds. Call (804) 779-3775 for reservations.

Godly Play

Godly Play meets on the first, third, and fifth Sundays of each month. Godly Play is a curriculum designed to help children explore faith through stories. Godly Play is open to 3 year olds up to 5th graders.

We have a nursery available every Sunday during our 10 AM service. The nursery is located inside the Parish House building, next to the church.

Have you ever thought about joining the choir? If so, now is the perfect time! The choir is currently rehearsing at 9:15 AM on Sunday mornings right before worship. You don't need to commit beyond one Sunday at a time. Show up, get a choir robe, and have fun with fellow choir members. If you have any questions, just ask one of the choir members in the blue and white robes after church.

Thanks for your continued support of CornerStone's food pantry!  April's suggested items include fish, vegetables, and beans.
