Education & Formation

Go Deeper: Education and Formation Opportunities

Flowering the CrossA devoted and creative team of Sunday School teachers offer educational classes for adults and children on Sunday mornings between services, beginning at 10 a.m. The nursery is available from 9:45 a.m. through the end of the 10 a.m. service. There are no classes during the summer.

For Children

For children of all ages, Godly Play is offered during the program year (September-May) on the first and third Sundays of each month at 9:55 a.m.  Join us for stories, music, crafts and fun! Based on the Montessori Method of teaching, Godly Play invites children of all ages to wonder, create, discuss, and research bible stories that are presented by a "Storyteller" in a format that uses all five senses (seeing, touching, hearing, tasting, and smelling).  Please contact Heather Wilson or Mary Beth Ivanhoe, or the Parish Office for more information about this exciting program.

For Youth

The Youth Group for sixth through twelfth graders focuses on outreach ministry activities and discussions about self-discovery, finding a place in the world, God's purpose for us, and what it means to be a young Christian adult. They schedule meetings throughout the year, but they do not necessarily meet on Sundays. Currently, the youth are talking about their involvment a 2017 joint pilgrimage between the Diocese of Virginia and the Diocese of Liverpool.  Call the church office for more information.

For Adults

Adult Christian Education follows refreshments on Sundays. Join us as we view and discuss a DVD series, Walking the Bible: A Journey by Land Through the Five Books of Moses. Author Bruce Feiler will take us on an amazing journey to sites of Biblical stories such as Mt. Ararat, the Temple Mount, Mt. Sinai, and St. Catherine's Monastery. Along the way, we'll meet local tour guides, archaeologists, monks, Bedouins, and tribal leaders.  As our host deepens in his faith, we will have the opportunity to explore our own.  No outside reading is required for this series, but you may want to begin reading Genesis in preparation. There is a companion book available. Contact Joan Beal for more information.

Education for Ministry:  Dig deeper into the Christian faith, studying the Bible, Church history and theological ideas and reflect on connecting faith with life experiences.
