From the Rector
With little research, one can easily come to terms with the season of Advent serving as a season of preparation for the coming of Jesus. I don't want us to deny that reality, but I do want to encourage you to look beyond those boundaries.
On Sunday, December 10 we will gather for refreshments after the service and then will have a work day. The primary objective is to cleanup the leaves. If you have a leaf blower, please bring it with you. If leaf blowing is not your dream job, we have other tasks to accomplish as well. Feel free to dress in your work clothes for church.
On Tuesday, December 12 at 7:00 PM we will have a special service of Evensong. This is an opportunity to participate in a sung service of Evening Prayer and to make extra space for reflection and preparation as we await the coming of the Christ Child.
Liverpool Pilgrimage Presentation
On Sunday, December 17 after church we will have a presentation from those who went on the pilgrimage to Liverpool in August. Please join us in the Parish House.
Sunday, December 24
Christmas Eve day is a Sunday this year. We will have our regular 10:00 AM service of Holy Eucharist that morning. It will be a simple spoken service with no music and we will celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Advent. For Christmas Eve services, we will have our usual 4:00 PM service, which is especially open to families with children, and our 11:00 PM service with carol singing at 10:30 PM.
We will gather in the library following refreshments on Sundays to continue our study of Matthew. Our focus in this class comes from the work of N.T. Wright, a prominent New Testament theologian. "Tom" Wright emphasizes Jesus as Messiah and Teacher and proposes that His life announced the Kingdom of God on earth. For information contact Joan Beal.
Godly Play meets on the first, third, and fifth Sundays of each month. Godly Play is a curriculum designed to help children explore faith through stories. Godly Play is open to 3 year olds up to 5th graders.
Thanks for your continued support of CornerStone's food pantry! November's suggested donations are Thanksgiving-related items.
