Join us on Thursday evening at 6:00 PM in the church as we celebrate the Feast of the Ascension of Jesus Christ.
Wednesday Wireless - Immanuel's Weekly News Update
Ascension Day Service
Tomorrow at 6:00 PM we will have a special service celebrating one of seven principal feast days in the church year. Ascension Day commemorates the ascension of Jesus into heaven on the 40th day after Easter Day. At our service, we will give special thanks for our Altar Guild and their commitment to serving Immanuel. We will have a potluck dinner in the parish house after the service - bring a dish! All are welcome to attend this special service where we will also bless our new altar hangings.
Thursday Bible Study
Tomorrow we will have our bi-weekly Bible Study at the Parish House beginning at 7:45 AM. We will be studying the readings for Sunday. Here is a link to the readings:

Our application for a Peter James Lee Small Church Revitalization Grant was accepted. That means the $5,000 we applied for through the Diocese of Virginia will be sent our way and will go towards the Parish House Renovation Project. A special thanks goes to Harriet Stout as our grant expert and to wardens past and present: Jeff Piland, Warren Rice, and Pat Cowling. Next time you see them, please thank them for their efforts in getting the grant money.
Eagle Scout Project Fundraiser
A local Scout is offering his Eagle Scout project to Immanuel. He is putting a lot of effort into cleanup around the sheds behind the playground. A fundraiser dinner for his work is being held at Fairfield Presbyterian Church on Friday, May 18 at 6 PM. To RSVP email RSVP518@yahoo.com or call (804) 908-0800. Take-out is available too!
On Sunday, May 20 we will have a guest preacher, Logan Taylor, at Immanuel as we celebrate the Day of Pentecost. Logan is a graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary and is in the process of being ordained as a deacon in the Diocese of Virginia. If you aren't able to attend our Shrine Mont Parish Weekend, please do come to our regular 10:00 AM worship service to welcome Logan to Immanuel.
Spring Adult Formation Class
After refreshments on Sundays through May 27 we will explore various New Testament passages which can lend insights for living as Christians in the present day. We will begin in Acts and end in Revelation, hearing what Paul, the writer of Hebrews, and John have to say about following in the footsteps of Jesus. No preparation is required; each class will be a stand-alone lesson, so join us when you can! For more info about the class, contact Joan Beal.
We have a nursery available every Sunday during our 10 AM service. The nursery is located inside the Parish House building, next to the church.
Godly Play is finished for the program year, and will return in the fall.
Have you ever thought about joining the choir? If so, now is the perfect time! The choir is currently rehearsing at 9:15 AM on Sunday mornings right before worship. You don't need to commit beyond one Sunday at a time. Show up, get a choir robe, and have fun with fellow choir members. If you have any questions, just ask one of the choir members in the blue and white robes after church.
