Wednesday Wireless - Immanuel's Weekly News Update
From the Rector
A month ago, I wrote to you all with the exciting news that we are embarking on a Parish House Renovation Project to renovate the floors and ceiling of the Parish House. This is a mutual ministry project of the Cherub School and Immanuel Episcopal Church. It is amazing to witness so many people working together to accomplish a goal. So far, most of the preparation work has been done behind the scenes. I am especially thinking of our wardens, Warren Rice and Pat Cowling, and our Cherub School Director, Joy Morgan. There are also countless others who have offered their expertise or their relationships in the construction business.
For a church community, Palm Sunday, Holy Week, and Easter Day are much like a mutual ministry project. It takes many hands to pull together such a variety of liturgical experiences. I am thankful for everyone who has and continues to participate in our worship services. As we gather together these next few days for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Day, I encourage you to hold your Immanuel Church community in your prayers. Give thanks for what we have. Each day is a gift. On the front end of Holy Week, I look forward to the day when we can say, "He is risen!" Until then, I continue to give thanks for our blessed Immanuel family.
Parish House Renovation Project
A special thank you to all who participated in the fundraising efforts for the Parish House Renovation Project. We sought $5,000 from the congregation to support the $30,000 renovation project. The call was answered beyond what we could have imagined. We raised $8,868.20 from the congregation! Keep an eye out for updates on the implementation of the Parish House Renovation Project.

Music in the Old Church Concert
On Saturday, April 14 at 7:00 PM, Music in the Old Church presents organist Daniel Stipe. Daniel Stipe is Instructor of Organ at Virginia Commonwealth University. Equally at home as a solo recitalist, collaborator and arranger on both the piano and the organ, Mr. Stipe's broad array of abilities lends a depth of understanding and excitement to his music-making. His large and varied concert repertory, with special focus on works of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, continues to delight audiences wherever he performs. He is a prizewinner in the William Hall Pipe Organ Competition in San Antonio, the Tulsa Crescendo Music Awards, the Fort Wayne National Organ Playing Competition, and the AGO/Quimby Region VII Competition for Young Organists. In 2014 he was featured on the Richmond AGO's Repertory Recital Series.
Spring Adult Formation Class: Pentecost & Beyond: Living as Disciples in a 21st Century World
For eight weeks following Easter, we will explore various New Testament passages which can lend insights for living as Christians in the present day. We will begin in Acts and end in Revelation, hearing what Paul, the writer of Hebrews, and John have to say about following in the footsteps of Jesus. No preparation is required; each class will be a stand-alone lesson, so join us when you can! For more info about the class, contact Joan Beal. Reminder: Adult formation will not meet on Easter Sunday.
Godly Play meets on the first, third, and fifth Sundays of each month, but will not meet on Easter Sunday. Godly Play is a curriculum designed to help children explore faith through stories. Godly Play is open to 3 year olds up to 5th graders.
We have a nursery available every Sunday during our 10 AM service. The nursery is located inside the Parish House building, next to the church.
Have you ever thought about joining the choir? If so, now is the perfect time! The choir is currently rehearsing at 9:15 AM on Sunday mornings right before worship. You don't need to commit beyond one Sunday at a time. Show up, get a choir robe, and have fun with fellow choir members. If you have any questions, just ask one of the choir members in the blue and white robes after church.
Thanks for your continued support of CornerStone's food pantry! March's suggested items include canned meats, beans, and soup. April's suggested items include fish, vegetables, and beans.
