Vacation Bible School
Join us for Vacation Bible School, sponsored by Bethlehem Presbyterian, Immanuel Episcopal, and Mt. Zion Baptist churches. It'll be held from 10:00 AM until Noon starting July 30 through August 3 at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 2446 Old Church Road, Mechanicsville. This year's theme is Camp Discovery: Jesus at Work Through Us. To register your child, fill out the registration form linked here and turn in the completed form to the Parish Office no later than July 1. If you have any questions about Vacation Bible School please email the Rev. Chris Miller at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Parish House Renovation Update
Work on the Parish House continues. Most of the Cherub School area is newly painted. In addition, the initial electrical wiring for the new lighting in the main reception area has been installed. Next week we will have new carpet installed in the Cherub classrooms. We appreciate your flexibility as the project unfolds and we guarantee access to at least one bathroom at all times. Please speak with Pat Cowling or the Rev. Chris Miller if you have any questions.
Storage Shed Moved
As part of an Eagle Scout Project, one of our sheds has been moved from next to the playground to the far side of the basketball court. The shed is well utilized, especially for cemetery maintenance tools and lawn care tools. We can always use more help with lawn care and cemetery care. If interested in joining the lawn care team, please speak with Pat Cowling. If interested in joining the Cemetery Committee, please speak with Warren Rice.
Education for Ministry
EfM is a distance learning experience from the School of Theology at the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee; "a program of theological
education based on small group study and practice." Over 80,000 participants from all over the world have discovered and nurtured their call to Christian service through this program.
In today's complicated world, learning about the ways to see your life through a spiritual lens can't provide you with all the answers, but it can give you a safe place to ask the hard questions, to learn how we got to where we are in today's church through the study of the Old and New Testaments, the history of the church, and by being introduced to theological reflection and readings.
We will have room in our group for several new members starting in the fall. Registration materials will be available in early July and our sessions will begin in mid-September. Ask any current EfM participant or graduate about their experience! Or check it out at Sewanee.edu/EfM!
The Scoop: Tuition will be $375 per student, meetings are held once a week, with several brief breaks around major church holidays, all books and materials are provided, expect about 2 hours of reading to prepare for each session, members provide light refreshments to share for the group several times each session. Contact Lindsay Ryland (email@example.com) or Dabney Morriss (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have questions.
Prayer List Updates
Please email the Rev. Chris Miller (email@example.com) and Britton Trimble (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have anyone you would like added to our prayer list. Additionally, please review the prayer list this coming Sunday to see if there is anyone that you would like removed from the prayer list as circumstances change.
We have a nursery available every Sunday during our 10 AM service. The nursery is located inside the Parish House building, next to the church.
During the summer months, please feel free to show up to church early on Sunday morning, find a robe, and hop in the procession with the choir. We welcome all levels of singing ability to join the Immanuel Choir.
CornerStone Food Bank
