Wednesday Wireless - Immanuel's Weekly News Update
From the Rector
Last Sunday during Adult Formation we had a wonderful discussion about the difference between sacraments and sacramental rites. The Episcopal Church considers Baptism and Holy Eucharist the two sacraments of the Church. The first, Baptism, names us and the second, Holy Eucharist, sustains us. The other sacramental rites are confirmation, ordination, holy matrimony, reconciliation of a penitent, and unction.
This Sunday, we will reaffirm our faith with the words of the baptismal covenant, naming God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And we will commit again to the work of seeking and serving Christ in all persons as we love our neighbors as ourselves. It seems fitting that our Annual Parish Meeting is the Sunday after we celebrate the Baptism of Jesus.
So join us this Sunday for a significant day in the year of the Church and join us next Sunday for a significant day in the year of our Immanuel Episcopal Church.
Faithfully,
Chris
