- Update Immanuel's Facebook page (assuming there is power)
Note that The Cherub School follows the Hanover County Schools closings schedule.
Annual Meeting 1/22; Annual Reports Due 1/16
Our Annual Meeting is set for January 22, right after the 10am service. We hope you'll join us as we elect Vestry, Foundation, and Cherub Board members, and hear updates from our leaders.
Dear Ministry & Committee Leaders,
It's time to get your Annual Reports in for the Annual Meeting! We welcome written reports from all of our ministries and committees. The following reports were in the packet last year: Interim Rector, Senior Warden, Junior Warden, Stewardship,Treasurer, Cemetery Committee, The Cherub School, Godly Play, Adult Christian Education, EfM, ECOM/Marketing, Communications/Newcomers, Music, Garden of Grace, Immanuel Old Church Foundation, CornerStone, Scouts, and the Honduran Mission. This year, we'll have an update from the Search Committee, too. As you can see, it's quite a list! Considering how much there is to organize, I beg you to get your reports into me by January 16. The best way to get your report in is to email me your submission as non-formatted plain text. You can even put it right in the body of the email!
Britton Trimble, Parish Administrator
Adult Christian Education
Adult Christian Education will resume on this coming Sunday, January 15. Join us in the library after refreshments for a study on the Gospel of Matthew. Please contact Joan Beal for more information on our Adult Christian Education program.
The children gather at 9:55am, and are brought to church to join their families for Holy Communion. Godly Play resumes on January 15. Age groups: 4 year olds through 2nd graders meet in the right side of the Parish Hall, while 3rd graders through 5th graders meet in the library.
Search Committee Update
Our parish portfolio, an online profile of Immanuel, has been submitted. Interested clergy are now submitting their names. We invite the parish to pray for us as this is our work together. Dear Lord, Surround us this night with your abundant love. Guide our hearts and minds in a way that is pleasing to you. Give us patience to do your work, wisdom to seek the desires of our congregation, and the ability to use the gifts you provide us in our search for a new rector. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen. The Search Committee: Jim Trimble, Whitney Anderson, Pat Cowling, Boo Elmore, Suzy Miller, Alex Wilson, and Nerine Woodard.
Parish Office Hours
Britton Trimble, the Parish Administrator, is generally in the office Mondays-Thursdays, 9am-4pm. She usually takes a 1pm-2pm lunch break.
Thanks for all of your donations to CornerStone in 2016, and for your continuing support in 2017. There are many families out there who need food, and CornerStone Food Bank folks work hard to help as many as possible! This month's suggested items are peanut butter, jelly, & soup.
Yoga at Immanuel!
Come join us for Integral Hatha Yoga on Tuesdays, 4:45 pm - 5:45pm in the Parish House. The recommended donation is $12. Beginner to intermediate levels are welcome; please bring your own mat. The class is being taught by Martha Childress, RYT 200. Martha has taken 200 hours of training to become certified to teach Yoga through the Integral school, which was founded by Sri Swami Satchidananda, who stated the goal of Yoga is "an easy body, a peaceful mind and a useful life." Contact Martha at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions.
Parish House Security System
Keyholders, please be sure you still have your access code and instructions (see Britton Trimble in the Parish Office for a replacement if needed). Please don't trust your memory - take a moment to review your code and the steps to disarm the security system before you unlock the Parish House door.
If you are the last person to leave the Parish House, it's up to you to lock up and arm the security system. If the system only beeps once when you try to arm it instead of starting the 45 second countdown of beeps, it's not armed. Pull the main door more tightly closed, stand still in front of the alarm panel for a few moments, and try again. If you set off the alarm by mistake, please call Britton Trimble, Parish Administrator immediately at 814-7342. Please call Britton if you have trouble arming the system.
